Welcome

Welcome to the Dothan Rotary Club Website
We are pleased that you are interested in learning more about the Dothan Rotary Club and Rotary International. Founded in 1918, the Dothan Rotary Club is one of over 33,000 Rotary Clubs in over 200 countries. Rotary is one of the world’s premier service organizations withover 1.2 million business and professional leaders, all volunteering their time and talents to serve their communities and the world.Paul Harris had a visionary idea when he started a small Rotary club in Chicago in 1905. Rotary International is the world’s first service club organization.
The Dothan Rotary Clubis involved in many projects locally and internationally. We are a diverse club that boasts members from a wide variety of backgrounds that are deeply engaged in our community.
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. Rotary Club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
Members of the Dothan Rotary Club deliver and support many local projects. Among them are a youth literacy project where Club members deliver dictionaries to every Third Grade student in Dothan City and Houston County Schools. Each book has aRotary 4-Way Test label inside.
For over a century, the Dothan Rotary Club has embraced the energy of being a part of a global initiative! By joining together as leaders, exchanging ideas and taking action,we are making an impact both locally and around the world! Dothan Rotary awards scholarships to deserving high school students, supports local nonprofits such as Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center (WRC), 4-H, the Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity, Camp ASCCA, the Wiregrass United Way, Food Bank, to name a few. Additionally, the Dothan Rotary Club participates and supports RYLA –Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. This outstanding camp helps students build communication and problem-solving skills and become a dynamic leader in the community.
The Dothan Rotary Club is proud to have helped to expand the reach of Rotary through our club’s sponsorship of an Interact Club at Dothan High School, a Rotaract Club at Wallace Community College-Dothan, and most recently, a Satellite Club - The Dothan Rotary Outlaw Club.
Our members have contributed both in cash and kind, toward rebuilding communities devastated by natural catastrophes in Pakistan, Nepal, and Haiti. We have joined forces to improve healthcare in Peru, Guatemala, Sri Lanka; and improving access to clean water and sanitation in Burundi, India and Sierra Leone. Additionally, the Dothan Rotary Club generously supports the End Polio Now project. This unity global project, in partnership with Rotary International and The Gates Foundation,is focused on eradicating polio from the world.
We are neighbors, community leaders and global citizens uniting for the common good. With you we can accomplish more! Whether you just want to experience a Rotary meeting or are ready to decide if the Dothan Rotary Clubis the right service club for you, please contact us and arrange to be our guest for an upcoming lunch meeting. We welcome you! Rotary Connects the World!
Best wishes,

August is Membership Development Month

August is Membership Development Month
Why Rotary

You'll find Rotary clubs in small towns and big cities across the globe. It's where like-minded professionals and community leaders come together to exchange ideas, take action, and make new friends.

Those who know what good Rotary clubs do will want to be a part of it, and we must find new models for membership that allow all interested in our mission to participate. With Rotary more in the public eye, we should attract more individuals who want to be part of and support a membership organization that accomplishes so much good around the world.
Each of us came to Rotary because we had a longing – to have an impact, to make a difference, to be part of something larger than ourselves. That desire, that vision for a better world and our role in building it, is what drives us in Rotary. It’s what made us become members--it’s what motivates us to serve.
As this year’s Membership Chair, I challenge EVERY MEMBER TO BRING A PROSPECT MEMBER to a Club meeting on a Monday, a Satellite “Outlaw” Club on a Thursday evening, and/or participate in a service project or social activity in August. Bringing in new, qualified members diversifies our club and increases its impact.
What does our Club offer:
• Friendships (Fellowships)
• Business Development/Networking
• Families Working Together
• Mentorship
• Local Community Service Projects
• International Service Projects
• Education/Personal Growth
• Fun
• Other
Prospect members can attend a meeting with a member at no charge. Once your prospect attends a meeting, I will get with you and President Cynthia to schedule a convenient time to hold a New Member Orientation. I will guide you throughout the process.
So, here’s to seeing lots of news faces at Rotary in August!
